Celebrating Child Life Month with an amazing organization that provides more than wishes for children and families! Check out our spotlight on Children’s Wish Foundation International.
After the sudden death of her 15-year old daughter, Founder and Executive Director Linda Dozoretz realized she wanted to use her tragedy to create a better experience for other families walking the same devastating path of doctor visits, treatment centers and the loss of a loved one. In 1985, she founded the Children’s Wish Foundation International to create cherished family moments.
Children’s Wish Foundation International is a non-profit Atlanta-based organization that fulfills wishes for children that have been diagnosed with a life threatening illness.
In the midst of devastation, Children’s Wish Foundation believes that every child’s heartfelt wish is an opportunity for both a child and his/her family to create a memory that lasts a lifetime.
Along with fulfilling wishes, more unique services were created to fit the needs of children around the world. Children’s Wish established a ‘Young Minds Program’ for children (under 4) who receive a special assortment of DVDs, electronics, books and toys.
In 1991, Children’s Wish developed a Hospital Enrichment program that ships gifts to over 345 hospitals a year and host monthly hospital parties that bring forth smiles, warmth and a therapeutic outlet for children while they are hospitalized.
With thousands of wishes fulfilled in 53 countries and impacting the lives of over 100,000 children, Children’s Wish Foundation is celebrating 30 years of once-in-a-lifetime wishes.
