Fundraise through

Center for HOPE and Shop

I have been a volunteer bereavement facilitator for the Center for H.O.P.E. for the past 5 years. This phenomenal program in Long Island, New York, provides free services to children and families coping with a loss. As a non-profit organization they use fundraising efforts to continue the program.

They have just teamed up with, which is an online retailer with over 4,500 partner stores where customers can earn CashBack on their purchases. Aside from CashBack, customers can also utilize the comparative shopping feature, set price alerts and receive extra discounts and coupons. When you make a purchase on, The Center for H.O.P.E. receives royalties and you earn up to 50% cash back on qualified purchases.

The Kenya Child Life Team Needs Your Help!

There is an incredible child life team that has been working at Sally Test Pediatric Centre at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya for the past 8 years. The medical team has limited pharmaceutical supplies to help children cope with incredibly painful procedures. They rely on child life to use their skills in medical preparation, procedural support, distraction, play and creative arts to help patients cope.

The child life team has a low supply of distraction toys/activities for their patients and they need your help!

They are seeking donations of distraction toys, preferable non-battery operated, such as:

Morgan Livingstone, Certified Child Life Specialist in private practice, has been the clinical supervisor of the child life team in Kenya, since they began in 2007. She will be making her annual trip to the Sally Test Pediatric Centre in early September and will be able to deliver the toys to her team.

Please ship ASAP to:

Ice Skating, Raffle Prizes, Disney Princesses, all to support The Center For Hope

The Center for HOPE fundraising event was a success. Family and friends flooded the ice rink and were assisted by a USA olympian and the Islander’s mascot, Sparky the dragon. Kids ate cotton candy, pizza and had their faces painted by clowns, while the parents bought raffle tickets for gift baskets.

It was a family day that focused on bringing awareness and raising funds for the bereavement program at North Shore LIJ Cohen Children’s Medical Center.

As a facilitator for The Center for HOPE, I have witnessed first hand the transformation in children and families. When they enter the program there is a sense of heaviness with their emotions. The mixture of feeling angry, sad, guilt, frustration and loneliness is soon changed to love, validation and hope. The families learn strategies for healthy ways to cope with the loss of their loved one and how to continue to hold their legacy strong.
