I just wanted to share a quick post that I was featured in from AfterSchool.ae Check out Mom Blogger #4.
Happy Father’s Day!
This Father’s Day, we asked a bunch of bloggers and asked what they remember most of their dads. We sent 3 questions to 6 mums who blog about their parenting and family life. Their answers show how dads shaped these girls through childhood, and into parenthood.
What’s the best life lesson you learned from your father?
“No matter what you’re doing, give it your all. I’m the type of person who goes all in with everything I do, thanks to my dad. Whether it’s laundry, laying bricks, playing sports, or teaching my classes I give all of myself and my abilities. My dad has taught me what it means to work hard and put in my best effort no matter what the situation, for that I am grateful!”
Can you share your favorite quote from your father?
“When I first brought up this question with my dad, he was curious why I would ask such a thing… our conversations aren’t usually very philosophical. He had a hard time coming up with something, as did I! So instead of my dad’s favorite quote, I will share a quote that I think he would feel inspired by, one that he embodies with his actions and words on a daily basis. This one’s for you dad, the secret poet within you will love it!”
“You’ve got to take the good with the bad, smile with the sad, love what you’ve got, and remember what you had. Always forgive, but never forget. Learn from mistakes, but never regret.”
What’s your warmest Father’s Day message for your dad?
“I’m not about to share a heartfelt, lovey-dovey message for my dad; that’s SO not his style. He’s a tough love kind of guy. Dad, even though you’re not an overly affectionate lets-talk-about-our-feelings type of man, I know how much you love me. It’s all those sweet thoughtful things you do (even when I don’t ask)! Thank you for all the favors, for being my car guru, taking me out for lunch, being there when I’m in a bind (even if that means dropping everything you’re doing to come save me), helping me with literally ANYTHING, being my cheerleader – for everything, bringing over tools/parts/and other useful things, and above all – for all the hugs, when you know I need them. There are so many types of dads in the world, and I am proud to say that you are undoubtedly the coolest and most thoughtful one around. We don’t say this to each other very often, but dad – I LOVE YOU!!! To the moon and back.”

What’s the best life lesson you learned from your father?
“The best lesson I learned from my dad was not to be afraid of hard work. He worked a full-time job so my mother could stay home for most of my childhood, and when he was off work, he worked tirelessly around the house and property. He showed me how important it is to be skillful in fixing broken things, and taught me to be strong and not to complain, even when doing mundane and laborious chores.”

What’s your warmest Father’s Day message for your dad?

What’s the best life lesson you learned from your father?
“My dad taught me to have an amazing work ethic, he worked hard whether it was in his job, or at home, he was never one to just sit and relax. Summer vacations meant getting things done around the farm–new fences, new wells, repairing the deck–it was never a time to work on your tan!”
Can you share your favorite quote from your father?
“One of my dad’s favorite sayings later in his life has become, ‘I used to feel bad for myself because I had no shoes, and then I saw a man who had no feet.’ It’s a simple saying to remind you to count your blessings because whatever your troubles are someone else would trade places with you in a minute!”
