A common ailment that kids have to deal with is a cold, which can worry parents. There are many reasons why children get colds, but there are a number of things you can do to remedy this problem. The following are a few home remedies that you can try to get your child’s cold under control.

Ease the Soreness Away

As a parent, you want to find a way to help your child get through this as quickly as possible, and there are a lot of symptoms to worry about, including a sore throat. A solution that might work is a honey-infused lemon tea that may help your child feel a little better. To make this, add a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice to a hot cup of water. Then, stir in a teaspoon or two of raw honey to taste. Let the mixture cool, and give the tea to your child.

Coughing Remedy

Another symptom that you want to find a way to suppress is your child’s cough. You might be happy to know that all you need to do is give your child some honey. Make sure that you purchase only raw and organic honey for full potency. Keep in mind that children younger than one cannot have honey.

Ugh, Aches

Ginger tea should work wonders for a child dealing with muscle aches. This natural remedy helps blood circulate throughout the body. Blood carries necessary nutrients that help with your child’s recovery. You can add a little honey if your child does not love the taste of ginger tea.

Nose Aid

Colds are usually accompanied by a runny nose, and you know how much pain that can be. You can try to deal with this in a few ways. For one, you can try a saline nose rinse to clean out your child’s nose. Most parents don’t like this because kids are not too fond of pouring water into their nose. Try adding cedarwood oil to boiling water or an oil burner, which helps relieve this symptom.

Eww, Phlegm

The best way to get rid of phlegm is to loosen it up. You can boil some water and have your child breath it in. You can also turn on your shower, and have your child sit in the bathroom, or put a humidifier in your kid’s room. The steam should help loosen up any mucus so that your child can easily cough it out. Those who have this issue consistently may need to take their child to a physician, just to be safe.

Hopefully, some of these remedies help your child feel better. None of these are cures nor do they replace advice from a doctor such as Rural Health Services Consortium Inc.. Be sure to trust your intuition because a cold could be a symptom of something else.
